ORIGAMI

THINKING OUT LOUD

I never wanted to play someone else's music, as I had more than enough of my own ideas at that time. I came as the most "maximalistic" young man. And this group played a huge role in my life, and I just decided to take a chance and send "Galactic Sympathy"

I thank our Bassist Nikolay Savenkov for this experience . He was the only one who saw the potential in me and did not pass by

My eyes were opened to the "domestic underground" and to music in general. He was disappointed in many ways, and often fought with himself so as not to turn around and send everything to hell. But this is the lot of weak-willed individuals.

ORIGAMI В SPOTIFY

HISTORY

The Origami band was formed at the end of 2001. For the first concert, which took place on April 6, 2002 (it was then that it was decided to name the group - Origami), the line-up was as follows:

Maxim Kamenshchikov "Max" (vocal)
Alexey Pirogov "Alex" (drums)
Andrey Sharapov "Shu" (guitar)
Savenkov Nikolai "Sochi" (bass)
Sergey Makarov "Pazzo" (sampling)

Shortly after that, "Pazzo" leaves the group, and Timur Grishkov "TiM" takes his place.

It was in this line-up that the group (summer 2003 - spring 2004) recorded the first demo album called "Demo No. 0". The album is distributed on its own at concerts and festivals in which the guys took part, as well as on the pages of the global network.

In the summer of the same 2004, Origami entered the studio to record their debut album, which was released in October 2005 under the title "When the lie became the truth." The album contains 14 songs + a hidden bonus track. The album was released on the independent label MDU. During the recording, the composition of the group changes somewhat: Timur Grishkov "TiM" leaves and Dmitry Altfeld "Fildy" (ex "Los Buratinos") takes his place, also in order to complement the sound, the second guitarist Oleg Orlov is invited.

In support of the debut album, a number of concerts are given in various cities of Russia and neighboring countries, fueling interest in the band. During a large number of concerts, a lot of live video was filmed, from which the band's bassist Nikolai Savenkov [Sochi] edits two video clips that fully reflect all the energy and crazy presentation of the band at concerts. Videos were made for the compositions "Adrenaline Taste" and "Too Stupid (a) Too Little (a)" - both clips were in the rotation of A-One, O2-TV, etc.

In August 2006 the band entered the studio to record their second album. All recording, mixing and mastering was done by Alexander Karelin (guitar Fourth Dimension, sound - Jane Air). In September 2006, the group presented a video for the single "Without Extra Words" from the upcoming album (the single was released on the "True Emo" compilation, as well as the "What is Imo?" CD / DVD compilation, where the band's clips were also presented). The work on the clip was conducted by the band's bassist Nikolai Savenkov [Sochi] (director of outdoor shooting, scriptwriter, selection of locations and actors) and Ivan Egorov (director, video operator), clip maker of the HaveFunVisuals company. In October, presentations of the second disc are held in St. Petersburg and Moscow. The record was called "And the angels are wrong" and was released on the Cap-Kan label. It included 13 songs, as well as the clip "Without further words."

In April 2007, acoustic concerts dedicated to the band's fifth anniversary are held in both capitals - a recording from these concerts is released on the Unplugged live album (autumn 2007). This release also included a video for the acoustic composition "For the Sake of What" - filmed at the end of summer. The director of the video was again "Sochi" - the bass guitarist of the group. In the same year, a book was published by the author of the soundtracks for the computer game "Black Mark", as well as for Anton Soya's fantastic story "Emoboy".

On September 15, 2007, a concert is held at the Port club, the filming of which served as material for the new concert video "Half right, halfway from here." On December 1, 2007, the group releases the EP "Thread" and announces the departure of vocalist Maxim Kamenshchikov. His place was taken by Artyom Kasaev.

At the beginning of 2008, Origami makes a two-month tour with a new vocalist. In the summer of 2008, the group recorded the disc "Cassandra's Syndrome" (sound engineer: Alexander Karelin), which was released on September 28, 2008. In support of the album, the band embarked on the Cassandra Tour, which ended in mid-March 2009.

The group is also filming a video for the song "There is No More Meaning" from the new album (script by Nikolai Savenkov [Sochi], director Egor Lymarev). Origami becomes the owner of the "Best Club Group 2008" award at the IV annual ceremony of the "Petersburg Musician" magazine. Origami participates in the concept album-"soundtrack" for Anton Soya's fantasy novel "EmoBoy" and in the soundtrack for the game "Black Mark".

On September 3rd, 2009 the band will present a new release of the EP "Nobody Else". Shortly thereafter, Dmitry Altfeld and Oleg Orlov left the group for personal reasons. Orlov's place was taken by the rooster Denis Shafostrotov, the band decided not to take the keyboard player.

In August 2010, the group, first at a concert, and then on their official website, reported that Denis Shafosrotov had left the group. The official version is as follows: "Denis himself found us and persuaded us to take him into the group, we went to meet him and immediately took him into the lineup, but over the past months he has not been able to prove himself as a full-fledged member of the group, in connection with which a decision was made break up with him."

In the spring of 2011, the group renews the line-up and the place of the second guitarist is taken by Konstantin Plekhov, and the place of the electronics is taken by Maxim Kulikov, who previously adjusted the band's instruments for recording and not only. In this composition, the group releases the single "Only I Will Stay Here" (sound engineer: Ilya Borisov - guitar [AMATORY]), after which they go on a mini-tour around the cities of Russia.

At the end of 2011, the band decides to take a break from their musical activities.

On February 23, 2013 the band reunites and participates at the "Reaktiv" festival (Moscow - Plan B) as one of the headliners together with the band Stigmata. In May of the same year, having defeated the St. Petersburg club "Aurora" at the Back to Zero festival, the group decides to give two more concerts in the capitals at the end of the year.

At the beginning of 2014, the band started working on the maxi-single "Steps Into Infinity", which was released on April 15, 2014. The title song is dedicated to Artyom Kasaev's friend - Anton Bondarenko, who died of a drug overdose before his 25th birthday.

In mid-2016, Artyom Kasaev officially changes his name to James W. Cosmo.

On March 17, 2017, the maxi-single "Prometheus" is released, and a month later, a cover version of the song by Nirvana - Tourette's is released. In the spring of 2018, after which the group announces a break in activities.
